Fishing boats and yachts ply the waters, and gulls soar above. Most days, glacier-clad Mount Baker (10,778 feet) is visible, rising dramatically beyond the harbor. Insider tip: Take a scenic ride on the historic MV Plover passenger ferry between the resort and the Blaine Marina. Built in 1944, the boat was originally used to shuttle workers to a salmon cannery on Semiahmoo Spit. Passengers are treated to views of a working harbor, Mount Baker, abundant wildlife, and, tide permitting, a sunken tugboat. The ferry operates on summer weekends.
