This resort is centered around a mansion built by shipping magnate Robert Moran, which he constructed on Orcas Island when he was told that he had one year to live. The spot was chosen because of its natural beauty, and Moran and his family were able to enjoy it for many years as he survived, in quasi-retirement, far past the date set by his doctor. Rock Resorts has overhauled the sturdy mansion and built a complex around it, with a wonderfully indulgent full-service spa, several pools, additional guestrooms, and extensive banquet and meeting facilities.

Sea-Tac International Airport (SEA): Approximate driving time is 120 minutes to the ferry landing at Anacortes. The ferry ride to Orcas Island is an additional 70 minutes, followed by a drive of approximately 30 minutes to the resort.
Driving directions from Sea-Tac International Airport: From the airport, follow signs to I-5 heading north toward Seattle and continue on I-5 through Seattle to Burlington. Take Exit 230 and travel west on SR-20 to Anacortes. Follow signs to the ferry landing. Take the ferry to Orcas Island. When exiting at the Orcas landing, bear left and drive approximately 10 miles to Eastsound. Turn right onto the main street. Stay on the main street, heading out of town, for approximately 1 mile; then turn right onto Olga Rd, follow it for 8 miles, and turn right at the Rosario sign. Drive for 1 mile to the bottom of the hill and you will be at the resort.
Port of Orcas Airport (ESD): Approximate driving time is 10 minutes and distance is 8 miles.
Complimentary transportation is available from Port of Orcas airport to the resort with advance notice.
